Mukka delivers Indian cuisine like you have never tasted before by delivering authentic Indian cuisine just the way it’s done in India.
Mukka Indian restaurant is about fresh Indian street food – simmering, sizzling, kneading, roasting, and flipping the way it’s done in India - redolent in spice, flavour and texture.
The menu boasts high quality Indian food that is freshly cooked with love and care and fiercely flavoursome. Everything is made in-house. From the smoked and ground spices, freshly made chutneys, delicate naan breads to the soothing lassis.
The ambience is modern and stylish, an extension of Mukka’s contemporary interpretation of Indian cuisine.
We loved the house-made drinks - the cocktail jug was a crowd-pleaser on a hot summer night and the coconut rum spiked mango lassi was addictively good.
Tibetan momos
The Tibetan momos were impressive. Boasting beautifully silky skins, the dumplings were filled with finely chopped cabbage and potato and served with a chilli sauce. We loved the beautiful flavour.
Smoky eggplant and pea Dosa
The dosa was expertly made. Paper thin and perfectly crisp, these crepes were filled with smoked eggplant and pea mixture and served alongside sambar dal and refreshing coconut chutney.
Tandoori prawn
The Tandoori prawns were yet another enjoyable dish. Prepared over the ambers of the Tandoori oven together and served with fresh lemon and kachumbar salad, the flavours were vibrant and fresh.
Chicken Tikka Masala
We adored the curries we had. The Chicken Tikka Masala was a beautiful curry - a crowd favourite which had us fighting for the last morsel.
Slow Cooked goat curry
The Slow Cooked goat on the other hand was exceedingly tender courtesy of being cooked for a minimum of 4 hours in a tomato and onion gravy. It was a full flavour-laden curry, boasting a depth of flavour from the use of a myriad of delectable spices. Each curry was a great pair with the fluffy naan and beady basmati rice.
Kerala fish with dal tadka, pea pulao and salad
Continuing on the trend of the evening, the Kerala fish was beautiful. Featuring a fillet of pan fried barramundi rubbed with Keralan spices and served with dal, tadka, pea pulao (rice) and fresh lemon.
Bombay falooda kulfi
Our visit to Mukka concluded on a wonderfully sweet note with 2 traditional classics: the falooda kulfi and Carrot kheer. Both desserts were beautifully made. The falooda kulfi in particular were some of the best we have ever had - luxurious pistachio kulfi, within rose syrup, falooda and tapioca pearls. YUM!
Fresh and full of the spices Mukka is a compelling proposition and a brilliant addition to Fitzroy’s culinary scene.
