Perched at the crown of the Duke of Wellington on Flinders Street, Dutchess is a glamorous, Manhattan inspired dining lounge.
Having experienced a whirlwind makeover earlier this year, the third level is a vivacious space with cream-leather horseshoe booths that encircle the room.
Head chef Justin Wise (The Point, The Press Club) has prepared a menu which exhibits international influences through locally sourced ingredients.
Complementing the menu, the wine selection also takes influence from all corners of the world, with a selection of Reserves available to suit a more major celebration.
We started with a selection from the raw bar - oysters and fresh flavoured dishes. The Tuna tartare was delicious. Decadently spiked with a mixture of black garlic and sea urchin dressing and served atop finely sliced baby cucumber.
The small dishes on offer display Wise’s more adventurous side via dishes such as king crab ‘mac and cheese’ and Asparagus, quail egg, candied walnuts & Hollandaise.
For mains, the steaks on offer are brilliant with sizes ranging from 150 grams to 1.4 kilograms, sourced from some of the country’s best producers including Rangers Valley and Cape Grim.
Our evening concluded on a playful note with choc tops and a beautiful layered violet-centric dessert of violet crumble, chocolate aero, honeycomb and violet ice cream.
Combining international flavours with premium quality local produce and delicious tipple, Dutchess caters for everything from after work drinks to a late night rendezvous.
